What we collect and why

Information you give us
When you book, you give us your name, mobile number, and optionally your email and notes about the service you want. We use them to hold your appointment, send confirmations, reminders and receipts, and to answer your questions. Amanda may keep private notes about your haircut (guard numbers, preferences) so your next visit is consistent.
Payment details
Online bookings require a card on file. Card numbers go directly to our payment processor, Stripe, and never touch our servers. We keep only a token, the card brand, the last four digits and the expiration date. Stripe's handling of your card is covered by Stripe's privacy policy.
Text messages
By booking online and providing your mobile number, you agree to receive appointment-related text messages from Nielson's Barbering & Beyond: a booking confirmation, a reminder the day before, your receipt, a payment link if a card is declined, and replies when you text us. Message frequency varies with your appointments. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help; you can also call (801) 834-2320. If you opt out, we will still honor your appointment but cannot text you about it.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with anyone.
Who else sees your information
Only the service providers we need to run the shop: Stripe (payments), Telnyx (text messaging), Cloudflare (hosting and email), and Microsoft Outlook (Amanda's calendar, which shows your name, service and phone number on the appointment). We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Appointment and payment records are kept for as long as you are a client and as long as tax and accounting rules require. Ask us at any time to delete your record and remove your card on file.
